Aesthetic Accreditation Agency Established

December 15, 2008 |

Recently in California, medical spas have been the target of legislation intended to regulate the medical spa industry.  Aesthetic Accreditation Agency was established in 2008 due to new legislative changes that seek to improve patient safety and the standard of care in the medical spa setting. While hospitals and surgery centers have been accredited by several organizations for decades, the aesthetic facility environment has not had a dedicated accreditation program that examines all aspects of patient safety and quality care.  Aesthetic Accreditation Agency is an accrediting and consulting program which will continually monitor and implement advances in aesthetic quality patient care. This requires constant review and revision of standards to reflect the latest changes and developments.  We are at the forefront of legislative efforts to provide patients with safety and quality assurance in the medical spa setting.

Every medical spa facility that gains accreditation, must meet strict standards for equipment, treatment room safety, sanitation, personnel and physician credentials. We will also be educating the consumer on the credentialing process and how it will affect them.  Aesthetic Accreditation Agency requires medical spas to maintain 100% compliance with each standard to become and remain accredited. Each center must meet stringent requirements by complying with local, state, and federal regulations.  These requirements include; licensure, OSHA, ADA, HIPPA, fire safety, sanitation and building codes for the protection of patients and medical personnel.

To help aesthetic centers maintain their commitment to excellence, Aesthetic Accreditation Agency provides easy to follow checklists, a comprehensive patient safety program, regulatory and legislative advocacy.   We also offer consulting services to help your medical spa.  Our highly trained consultants will work with the medical spa facility using all pertinent manuals needed, including the MSDS Book, Policy and Procedure Manual, Protocol Book, Safety/OSHA Manual, Patient Information, Pre and Post Procedure List, and Quality Assurance Program.
Aesthetic Accreditation Agency will continue to work closely with the State Medical and Nursing Boards as a liaison to emphasize to them the quality of the medical spa facility that has gained accreditation.
