Medical sales boosted by Botox demand among workers

January 8, 2010 |

Medical sales are being driven by the increasing demand for Botox and other non-surgical cosmetic procedures, according to new figures.

A report from cosmetic surgery provider Harley Medical Group found that dermal fillers and chemical peels were responsible for a 26 per cent and 306 per cent rise in the market respectively.

Men accounted for 18 per cent of all patients, opting for treatments such as ‘Boytox’, collagen for men, and ‘Sweatox’ to reduce sweating.

The group suggested that the rise during a recession could be attributed to workers wanting to look good to compete in the job market.

The publication Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery forecast that 2010 would see an increase in the number of non-surgical procedures available to the public.

Among the treatments listed were new Botox rivals targeted at men, fat-melting injections, and the use of radio waves to contour the body in place of surgery.Posted by Jake Cantrell
