New Procedure Threat to Plastic Surgeons, Says a Chicago Physician
Evanston, IL (PRWEB) April 30, 2008 — Plastic surgeons condemn new non-surgical procedure lipodissolve, a safe inexpensive procedure is given a negative spin by plastic surgeons in fear of losing patients says Dr. Bark of the Lipodissolve clinic in Evanston, Illinois.
The two national groups of plastic surgeons have launched their own campaign against a procedure called lipodissolve. Lipodissolve is a non- surgical procedure that any trained and licensed MD can perform. This is potentially taking business away from surgeons who perform liposuction. Patients have become increasingly aware of the inherent risks of liposuction with a death rate of 1 in 5000, mostly due to pulmonary embolism, and are increasingly choosing lipodissolve over liposuction. There have been no deaths or any long-term problems associated with lipodissolve.
The statements repeatedly made by the plastic surgery associations all say the same thing, that lipodissolve is not FDA approved, and that physicians use uncontrolled cocktails.
Neither of these statements is true. The FDA does not approve procedures period. They only approve products such as medical devices and synthesized drugs, not bio-identical drugs. Physicians trained in lipodissolve use one thing, a mix of phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate in a standardized ratio. This mix is not FDA approved because it is a naturally occurring substance and therefore out of FDA jurisdiction such as vitamin B12 injections.
This has been an ongoing PR campaign that is intentionally misleading, and directing patients back into a surgical procedure that has a reported 1 in 5000 death rate, a death rate that is higher than the average elective procedure rate.
The Lipodissolve Clinic was founded in 2006 as a clinic offering safe and effective non-surgical aesthetic answers to otherwise invasive or chemically unsafe procedures and products. It was founded by Dr. Toni Bark
