Physicians Get Found on Google

April 28, 2009 |

Google has launched another tool which can help physicians boost their internet image and credibility called Google Profiles ( http://www.google.com/profiles/ ).

What is a Google Profile? It gives you the ability to control how others see you on the internet. Once you create your Google Profile, you can post photo’s, “about me” information, practice website links, links to your social networking accounts (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter). One of the great features is you can name your own profile page. Make sure when you name it, you choose a name that people may use to find you (i.e. mine is: http://www.google.com/profiles/jeff.russell.iapam ). Another great feature is the ability to add links to your websites. Of course we all know how much Google loves links!

The overall purpose of getting a free Google Profile is (1) allow your patients to easily find out about you (with information you control), (2) increase your natural search engine rankings on Google, and (3) improve your online reputation in case someone in the future bad mouths you.

Since you can add as many links as you like, its also a great idea to add a link to the IAPAM’s website (http://www.iapam.com) and Aesthetic Medicine News (http://www.aestheticmedicinenews.com).
