Risky business
Advertisements for cosmetic services are everywhere. Clinics are constantly competing for patients seeking injections of Botox and fillers, laser treatments and cosmetic surgery.
Many facilities offering cosmetic services attract clients with perks like beautiful surroundings, personalized treatment and competitive pricing. However these are not the most important things a consumer should look for in determining whom to see for a cosmetic service.
Be informed: What are the intended benefits? What is the likelihood the procedure will result in the outcome you expect? What are the potential negative outcomes and risks?
Beware of before-and-after photos. Ask to see poor outcomes, not only positive ones. Ask if the individuals in the photographs are patients of the provider or pictures of models that have been touched up.
